***NOTE: DEADLINE IS AUGUST 8TH TO GET SIGNED UP SO ACT FAST!***

Join our guest Tom Burroughs on September 14th & 15th (SATURDAY & SUNDAY) as he will be instructing a Paddlers Wilderness First Aid certification course and optional Saturday evening CPR /AED certification course.

The WFA course adds emphasis to the common injuries and medical issues we see with paddle sports. The CPR course includes a lot of additional info on dealing with drowning situations (not normally included in standard CPR courses).  Both classes offer a full 2 year certification that is recognized nationally.

Course Description:
This two day course (8am – 5pm) immerses participants in basic wilderness medicine procedures, preparing individuals to take immediate action when an outdoor activity doesn’t go as planned and 911 responders are hours away. Time is split between interactive classroom sessions and hands-on field scenarios to prepare participants and help them quickly develop basic backcountry medical care skills. The course focus is on patient assessment, stabilization and emergency treatment of issues such as hypothermia and snakebites, as well as understanding of when and how to attempt evacuation. This course includes additional focus on the needs of paddlers, with focus on the most common paddling injuries. Participants will emerge capable of calmly responding to a wide variety of emergency situations. Minimum age requirement for this course is 14.
