Well, as you have probably already noticed, we’ve recently redesigned our website. Didn’t this just happen less than three years ago, you might ask? Yes, it did and as the old phrase goes, the only thing constant in life is change, especially in the world of technology. Consequently, when tools and programs that make volunteer work more simplistic and efficient, we do what any good paddler would do and take the easy way out.
We’ve migrated our site into a WordPress platform. WordPress is a highly functional blogsite platform that allows members to have user accounts and post information and articles on their own to be edited and approved by our website editor. It also has better functionality for:
- incorporating use of a Google Calendar that is public and can easily be shared with your personal calendar on your desktop or mobile device
- better content layout to get users to the links they use most
- social media integration to help promote events virally
- search capability to find information on the website easier
- better forum integration (so, YES there’s a chance we will be bringing back the old forum!)
- online form completion to update your liability waivers online & more…
We will be slowly adding the final touches to much of the functionality between now and the end of the year. We encourage you, the paddler community, to get your user account and contribute information you’d like to see on our website for our other members.
