Here is some info from James River Basin Partnership to any OMP members interested in volunteering for their river cleanup on the James River:
On Saturday, July 13th, we’ll be putting in at the H.L. Kerr Access and floating down to and taking out at the Ralph Cox Memorial Access (Y-Bridge) in Galena for a total of 5 river miles. I assume many of the OMP folks are probably familiar with this stretch. It’s a fairly tame, scenic section of the river that is usually kept pretty well open and maintained by the outfitters. Easy put-in and takeout with a pretty short shuttle in between, just further south than we usually go for this event.
Check-in will take place at the Ralph Cox Memorial Access (takeout) from 8:00-8:30am. Prior to check-in, please drop your boat and equipment off at the put-in (Kerr). We will have a few JRBP board members stationed at Kerr watching over everyone’s gear starting at around 7:00am. Once you’ve dropped off your boat, head to the Cox Access, park your car and check-in at the registration table. Just let us know that you’re volunteering with OMP and we’ll put you on the first shuttle up to the put-in. We usually try to send the first bus load by 8:20am. Once you get to the put-in you can skip the safety briefing and begin paddling downstream so that you can station yourselves at any obstacles that might give the participants some trouble.
As always, we will be providing everyone with t-shirts and lunch at the takeout. Please let me know if you have any dietary preferences/restrictions so I can accommodate you during the lunch order. We’ll probably be ordering sandwiches from McAlister’s like we’ve done the last few years.
If you need to get a hold of us the day of the event, please call/text:
Brenton Stock at 816-809-4423,
Tiffany Frey at 417-872-8464, or

In the meantime, feel free to email me or give me (Brenton Stock) a call at 417-836-4847 if you have any questions.
