OMP had their monthly float on the Eleven Point River on July 21st (hosted by Lani Hayes).
Around 24 people (a few new ones) camped at Greer Crossing on Friday, July 20th, then floated 11 miles down to Whitten Access. The water level was great (about 500cfs -or- just above 3ft according to USGS gauge 07071500) and the weather was a perfect sunny beautiful day. The water was running pretty good so it only took us around 6 hours to float the 11 miles.
We stopped for lunch a few miles downstream from the put-in, then stopped again to hike up to Turner Mill Spring. The water was cold but some of us had fun sitting in the gushing spring as it poured out of the mountain side.
For those of you who have never been to the Eleven Point River I would highly recommend that you try to make a trip for yourself or with OMP on their next trip there. There are not a lot of gravel bars on this stretch, but there are float camps and it is a beautiful river nonetheless! – Lani Hayes: 07/25/18
