Paddlers in the Ozarks are getting to start the Spring canoe and kayak season off with an improved boat and a new skill thanks to the Repair Rendezvous on Saturday, April 18 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The hands-on part of the workshop is from 3 – 8 p.m. and live music by Vultures of Chaos County is from 8 -10 p.m.
The rocky terrain in the Ozarks takes a toll on canoes and kayaks. With the many rivers and seasoned paddlers here in the Ozarks – and a local organization promoting conservation, education and recreation – lots of boats in the area need some reinforcing. This workshop will focus on installation of bow and stern skid plates.
Ozark Mountain Paddlers has been providing river safety education in the Ozarks for more than 30 years. This event will be another way the organization helps connect paddlers to the resources they need to paddle safely and have fun.
Participant registration fee is $25 per boat and includes instruction, repair supplies, eye protection, and gloves. Participants are required to wear close-toed shoes. This event is FREE to non-participants and folks are encouraged to join the rendezvous to meet local paddlers and learn about Ozark Mountain Paddlers.
A portion of the proceeds from beer sales at White River Brewing Company and food from the Pizza House will benefit Ozark Mountain Paddlers. There will be raffle prizes including a Skid Plate Repair Kit provided by Ozark Mountain Trading Company.
Participants must pre-register by April 10 by calling 417-350-3657. For more information, visit whiteriverbrewingco.com or ozarkmtnpaddlers.org.
