Flat Creek Trip Report!

by Ozark Mountain Paddlers on December 14, 2014

DSCF7378It started off as a cool, foggy, mid-December morning around 9:30am.  The water was frigid and clear, the air was crisp, and a few miles and bald eagles had passed us by heading down the creek.  Then slowly as we all continued downstream, the elements transitioned into what is now known to those who witnessed it, one gorgeous and mostly-sunny day on Lower Flat Creek!  We had a total of 14 daring paddlers on this float who had nothing but good times and positive words about their experiences on the water.  The level read between 3.6-3.5 ft -or- 80-60 cfs on the USGS gauge at the EE takeout, which turned out to be just the right amount of water for what has been a rather dry year.  We will be visiting Flat Creek again sometime in the near future, you can count on that!

Thanks to all who attended this final OMP float for 2014 and a thank you to Jason Haskin for hosting this trip!  We are planning many floats and activities for the approaching new year (one quarter at a time) and hope to see all you many new and familiar faces!  Also be sure that if you have turned in your membership application and dues to check your mailbox soon for our OMP quarterly calendar card!  Thanks to all of the OMP members and board for making this paddling club the lifeblood that it is today!  See you all on the river in 2015!
